DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT Drive failure in backup host
PRIMARY IMPACT EFFECT Nightly backups of approx. 20% of virtual machines are not having nightly backups done
SECONDARY IMPACT EFFECT Recovery long term for these machines will be possible up to the 14th May when nightly backups were suspended
EVENT TIMELINE
FRIDAY 15th May 2026
16:00 Replaced drive but rebuild times are days so at present 20% of virtual machines are having 24 hours of backups but long term nightly backups are currently suspended until the raid rebuild has completed.
19:30 XSTRA has decided to source an additional backup server for delivery late next week. This is not required but once it is installed, new replication and backup targets for effected VM’s will be sent to this new server. The existing server will be re-installed and loads re-introduced to it.
