How Pricing Works: XCLOUD Foundation + XDESK Per User
It is important to understand that XDESK sits on top of an already designed and implemented XCLOUD infrastructure deployment.
XDESK pricing is a per user cost, however it relies on the XCLOUD monthly infrastructure foundation first.
In practical terms, clients typically select the XCLOUD foundation (the platform), then choose the XDESK edition per user (the experience).
XCLOUD term options: Month-to-month, 12 month term (discounted), or 36 month term (discounted). Term options reduce the XCLOUD monthly foundation cost, while XDESK remains billed per user.
Why this matters: When comparing XDESK pricing, ensure you include both layers — the XCLOUD foundation (platform) and the XDESK per-user subscription (user experience).
Why “Browser-Only” Work Isn’t Automatically Secure
Many organisations assume that using cloud apps (for example, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace) in a browser equals security. In practice, endpoint threats still exist on the device you are typing and viewing data on.
XDESK addresses this by delivering controlled sessions and, where applicable, additional protections to reduce exposure on untrusted machines.
Session protection concept: For higher-security use cases, XDESK can utilise protections designed to help defend user activity against threats such as screen scrapers and keyloggers when supported components are in place.

How XDESK Onboarding Typically Works
A structured rollout reduces risk and improves user adoption. Typical stages:
- Discovery: users, apps, data locations, printers, and performance expectations.
- Design: select edition (Basic / Enterprise / Enterprise Browser) and confirm access requirements.
- Pilot: test with a small group to validate experience and application behaviour.
- Rollout: staged onboarding with support and clear user guidance.
- Operate: ongoing monitoring, patching, backups, and optimisation delivered by XSTRA.
